Based on a short documentary on Netflix titled John Was Trying to Contact Aliens, directed by Matthew Killip,  I was charmed by the story and the visuals to the point of wanting to adapt it into a short comic as a form of practice for myself. It was the longest comic project I had tackled up until that point, so I set it as a challenge for myself to try my hand at longer-form storytelling. I wrote the script based on John Shepherd's life story that the documentary dives into, thumbnailed it, and began inking. I planned to color it but life and school got in the way, but I think it still stands on its own as a completed inked piece.
